BASF launches AgBalance in Canada

The Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine forecasts reduction of winter wheat production volumes in 2012 by 42% - to 12.5 mln tonnes, against 21.6 mln tonnes in 2011, declared Tatyana Adamenko, Head of the agricultural meteorology department of the Hydrometeorological Center.

Purchase prices for pork will grow due to reduction of pig stock
Over a period from April 18 until May 10, noticeable reduction of purchase prices for pigs in live weight took place. Primarily, this drop is explained by reduction of demand for pork in live weight - a range of spring holidays has passed. At the same time, it is expected that in the nearest future its purchase price will demonstrate a growth dynamics, since, usually, its rise is demonstrated in summer.

Corn, soybean prices to rise
The CME Group corn, soybean and wheat markets are poised to trade higher Tuesday. The Early Calls for the commodities on Tuesday, June 4, 2012, are higher. Corn is seen opening 1-2 cents higher, soybeans 8-10 cents higher, and wheat 1-2 cents higher.

Ukraine exported record level of sunflower oil and meal in April 2012
In April 2012 Ukraine exported the highest montly volume of crude and refined sunflower oil (339 Kt) and meal/cake (300 Kt). In September-April 2011/12 were exported 1.9 Mt of crude sunoil and 121 Kt of refined sunoil, 2.41 Mt of sun cake and meal and 600 Kt of husk.

IGC: Ukraine #2 Corn Exporter
Dow Jones. Ukraine is heading for another bumper harvest of corn in the next marketing year that starts Oct. 1 and output may rise 5.3% to 24 million metric tons, the International Grains Council said Friday.

IGC cuts global wheat crop outlook, raises corn
Global wheat stocks should fall to a four-year low by the end of the 2012/13 season with the crop outlook dimming in the European Union, Russia and Morocco, the International Grains Council said in a monthly update on Thursday. The IGC said global maize stocks, in contrast, should climb to a three-year high by the end of the 2012/13 season buoyed by record global production.

Adding milk to the list of government price regulation threatens the bankruptcy of farms and milk processing companies
May 22, 2012 Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted on the first reading the draft law #10456 “On Amendments to Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine “On State Support of Agriculture in Ukraine” in regulating purchasing prices for milk”, which proposes the milk in the list of government price control. It suggests processors must make payment for milk in seven business days. Experts and market participants think such legislative initiatives may lead to higher prices for dairy products and outflow of investment in industry

Limit of the land leasing size will stop development of plant growing
On the 22 of May, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to consider in the first reading a draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Land Leasing” (to some restrictions of agricultural land leasing” (reg. #10273 from 27.03.2012). In the Association “Ukrainian agribusiness club” (UCAB) is pointed out, if the draft law is passed in the current edition, Ukraine will stop the development of commodity production of cereals and industrial crops.
