Ukrainian rapeseeds export in 2008/09 МY
Rapeseeds is one of the main export-oriented crops. Annually Ukraine exports 90% of inner rapeseeds production. According to our recent forecast, in 2008/09 MY Ukraine will export nearly 2.2 mln tonnes of rape, up 2 times as compared to the previous season.
During recent years, EU countries (Poland, Germany, Netherlands) Asia and Near East countries (Pakistan, United Arab Emirates) and Turkey were the main buyers of rapeseeds. Turkey shows the highest rates of Ukrainian rapeseeds import: in 2005/06 МY the country bought 30.000 tonnes only, but this season supplies of Ukrainian rapeseeds to Turkey will exceed 140.000 tonnes. Due to rich harvest this year, EU countries will have the same needs of rapeseeds as during the previous season, besides, some countries (especially German and Poland) will decrease import, because of reduction of biofuel production.
The current export prices for Ukrainian rapeseeds are lower than prices for French rapeseeds on the same terms, but corresponds to export prices for oilseeds products in Bulgaria and Rumania.
