According to the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Vladimir Klimenko, the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine started granting licenses for grain export according to the quotas distributed last week in the volume of 1.2 mln tonnes.
Let us remind you that since the beginning of the current season (July-June 2007/08) Ukraine practically halted shipments of grain to the external markets because of introduced by the Government quotation for grain export. Since July 1, 2007, the Government of Ukraine established grain export quotas in the volume of 12.000 tonnes that the market participants considered as prohibitive.
In November 2007, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to prolong the efficiency of these quotas till the end of year, and since January 1 to March 31, 2008 they allow to export 1.2 mln tonnes of grain. These quotas were distributed on February 4 to 163 companies.
