Ukraine: the Cabinet of Ministers considers possibility of increasing quotas for sun oil export or export licensing introduction

According to the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Ivan Demchak, the Government of Ukraine considers possibility of increasing the quotas for sun oil export to 500.000 tonnes or cancellation of the quotation and introduction of the export licensing.

According to him, currently the Ministry of Agrarian Policy worked out two drafts regarding sun oil export, one of which foresees the quotas increasing, the second - the export licensing introduction.

As I. Demchak noted, the quota for sun oil may be increased from 300.000 tonnes to 500.000 tonnes and its validity term prolonged till September 1. As he said, if they leave the validity term for two and a half months, this would encourage export.

According to the Deputy Minister, the quota increasing becomes possible after correction of the carry-over stocks of sun oil. Currently, the resources of sun oil totals 880.000 tonnes that may be used at the local market as well as for export.

At that, the Ministry also prepared the draft resolution about introduction of sun oil export licensing. So the Government will decide whether it be automatic licensing or the quota increasing.

Let us remind you that the Government of Ukraine introduced sun oil and sunflower seeds export quotation for the period since March 22 to July 1, 2008 and established quotas in the volume of 300.000 tonnes for sun oil and 1.000 tonnes for sunflower seeds.
