Ukraine: Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported about agrarians' readiness for grain harvesting campaign 2008
Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported about completion of all preliminary work, necessary to harvest new yield grain, stated at the official web-site of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
According to Yuriy Melnik, Minister of Agrarian Policy, this year grain crops were sown at the area of 15.6 mln ha, including spring crops - 7.6 mln ha, winter crops- 8 mln ha. The winter wheat was sown at 6.6 mln ha, winter rye- over 460.000 ha, maize- 2.5 mln ha.
Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects that all operators of the agrarian market would work by the same rules, set by the Government. Y. Melnik noted that in February 2008 they set minimal prices for grain, well-known to all market participants.
