The production of all types of meat is decreasing in Ukraine
For the first time during last three years in the domestic meat market it tends to reduce the production of all types of these products. For example, chilled chicken meat production has decreased by 5.6% to 181 thousand tons, and frozen - by 27% to 23 thousand tons while in the structure of the market this type of meat is more than 50%. However, experts of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB) states the import growth in this market.
For three months in 2012 Ukraine has imported 59 thousand tons of meat, while the same period last year import did not exceed 35.5 thousand.
According to expert agricultural markets UCAB Elizabeth Svyatkivska sales of livestock and poultry for slaughter, according to the data of State Statistics Committee, decreased by 1.9% to 731.4 thousand tonnes in live weight over the first quarter last year. "The reduction is affected by decrease of cattle and pigs in all categories of properties and reducing the number of poultry in farms. Reduced production allows manufacturers to keep prices for livestock and poultry, although in the pork market, from May 7, prices has already begun to decrease, "- said the expert.
