Dynamics of prices for bread must be accompanied by social care - UCAB
In case of the increase in prices for bakery products the government must provide compensation to people with low income. This was stated by the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" (UCAB), commenting on the widespread news about the possibility of increase of price for bread up to 5 UAH.
UCAB stated that the comments on the increase of price for bread with reference to the President of UCAB Alex Lissitsa in most news agencies were taken out of context, which suggested that in Ukraine it is extremely important to have an effective social policy so that consumers paid less attention to the price for bread, as it happens in most countries.
According to UCAB experts, prices for grain and flour in Ukraine over the past half-year have not changed: for example, the price for flour as of today is just about 3000 UAH/t. So, if there is the reason to increase the price for bread, it has no relation to agriculture, but to is caused by the increase of prices for fuel, electricity, gas, gradual increase of floor wages.
"Obviously, sooner or later we should move away from the rule, when agricultural producers have to response to the increase of prices for energy resources by regulating the sale prices for grain" – Lissitsa summed up.
