Russia: the spring crops were sown at 10% of the planned area
According to the Federal Statistics Service of Russia, as for April 14, the area under spring crops sowings totaled 5 mln ha (10.2% from the plan), up 323.200 ha as compared to the same period last season. In particular, the spring grain were sown at 3.7 mln ha (12% from the plan).
According to the data of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology of Russia, during the last week the weather on the European part of Russia was warm, allowing increasing the sowing campaign rates. During the week, the area of 2.7 mln ha was sown under agricultural crops, up 1.6 mln ha as compared to the average long-term rates of sowing.
In the South Federal District, 1.6 mln ha were sown under the spring crops (20.5% from the plan). In SFD the warm weather remains till the end of April.
The economic entities of Southern and Central Federal Districts conducted the sowing campaign of sunflower at the area of 121.600 ha (2.4% from the plan).
