Agrarian export to the EU has set a record for the last 5 years
According to the results of 2017, Ukraine showed an increase in supplies of agricultural products to the EU by 34%, which is EUR 1.4 bln more than last year. This dynamic is a record for the last 5 years. According to the latest report of the European Commission Ukraine has risen from the 8th to the 4th place among the main supplier countries of agricultural products to the EU, giving way to only Brazil, the United States and Argentina.
As at 27 February 2018, Ukraine has already closed 4 quotas for honey, grape and apple juices, as well as wheat and maize for duty-free exports to the EU. The quarterly quota for export of poultry meat and the semi-annual quota for butter have also been closed.
Last year there was a more active closure of quotas at the beginning of the year. In February 2017, among 4 closed quotas, there was a significant use of a number of other quotas in the range of 70%-80%.
Recall that since October 1, 2017, additional duty-free quotas have entered into effect for 8 groups of goods, namely: honey, groats and flour, processed tomatoes, juices and a number of cereals: oats, wheat, barley and maize. At the moment 4 quotas have been closed: on honey, tomatoes, wheat and maize.

The share of EU countries in the structure of agro-food exports of Ukraine is currently about 32%, and Ukraine's agrarian export to the EU has become record for the last 5 years. And although most of the exported products in the EU are raw materials, the supplies of niche and finished products, such as confectionery, berries, nuts and juices are actively increasing», commented Daria Grytsenko, analyst of foreign trade in agri-food products, the Association «Ukrainian Agribusiness Club».
